Real Time Penguin
Back in 2012, Google launched the Penguin Update to 'punish' those sites that were deemed to be spamming search results and as a result affecting user experience. In particular, this related to those who bought many links or obtained them through link networks with the primary goal to boost Google rankings. Many people remember the day that they were hit. Rankings dropped considerably and businesses lost money, so with SEO changing all the time, it's pretty important to stay on top of things!
Updates occur all the time, but with this one, there seems to be something quite fair about it. A positive and negative that will make the transition a little easier - Lets have a look at the new real-time penguin update!
- Updated in real-time
In a nut shell, you could get a penguin penalty very quickly, but also recover well if you act fast!
What to do now?
If you earn links through great content and genuinely comment on other blogs or articles providing interesting points and offering advice, you're doing well. It might be worth double checking your link profile (you can never be too careful), but I wouldn't worry too much.
On the other hand, if your profile is full of unnatural and spammy links, it is highly recommended to review at this stage.
Don't forget though, the new penguin isn't here quite yet. Take a look at your profile and await further news from Google.
