On the 21st November 2010 Jacques Ritt, Chief Executive Office of SOGET; Alan Long, Managing Director of MCP; Santiago Mila, Chief Executive Office of PORTIC; Iwan van der Wolf, Chief Executive Officer of PORTBASE and Reimund Ott, Chief Executive Officer of DBH launched the European Port Community Systems Association EPCSA).
The EPCSA mission is to influence public policy in the European Union in order to achieve e-logistics throughout all European ports, operating as a key element of the EU maritime, shipping and logistics industry. It is supported by the Interreg IVB through the Dryport Project
Free Rein were asked to develop an online presence for the EPCSA that they could manage amongst themselves taking account of limited IT skills and high demands on the teams time. The site was to be a simple marketing to tool start and throughout the project be developed as a community platform, closed areas for the board and stakeholders and eventually into a knowledge bank to help support similar and related projects.
Free Rein were also developing the Low Carbon Freight Dividend (LCFD) site which was aimed at drawing SME logistics companies into the DryPort and related campaigns to get containers off road and on to rail to realise the carbon savings. The LCFD site draws on the container carbon calculator tool built as part of the DryPort project.
