No room for democracy in interior design
The new Free Rein offices have been coming on a treat recently so the latest question from the builders wasn't a surprise, but getting the the answer was.
"What colour do you want the walls, the painters will be in shortly?"
Typical of an Internet Marketing business, the discussion reverted to Hex, CMYK or RGB colour references. Creating swtaches was no help as the colours look diferent on every screen and printing them off? - depends upon the printer. Somewhat distressed we had to revert to looking at PAPER swatches from Dulux!!
But that was the easy bit
Some bright spark raised the question of the carpet, it did need to complement the walls. And the blinds - with a shed load of glass they would make a statement when closed. And the furnitire, and the chairs ..... Trying to take a, logical, project management view of the interior design soon became hopeless. Everyone has a different view. Spanners were added to the works every few minutes and new ideas diverted the discussion all over the place.
We pretty soon realised there was no room for democracy in designing the interior of the new office. So this is a plea for someone to start a new business, or let us know where it is if you already have one.
MyDeco for Business
Can we have a MyDeco for Businesses. A single location where we can model the interior of the building and try colours schemes. somewhere to find interesting conference tables and a choice to good chairs, customer reviews of suppliers, good and bad.
Adam and I have both been using www.mydeco.com for our homes and think the site is fantastic. So please send us the link if you already run a site like that for businesses, or even come and chat if you fancy building one.
